Turf · 1661m circumference · 320m straight · anticlockwise
York lies on the Avon River east of Perth and is the oldest provincial racecourse in the country, with racing on the site since the eighteen-forties. The course is built as two long straights joined by tight turns, with chutes for the middle-distance starts, and the town's turf and harness clubs now run as one body. The York Cup in November is its day.
Our database holds 45 races from the course, where fields have averaged 9.6 runners and 1200 metres is the most commonly run trip. M.J.Pateman leads the stables with 5 wins from 13 runners, and Scream has won 2 of 2 starts.
