Callaghan Park in Rockhampton has one of the longest home straights in the southern hemisphere — a run to the post far beyond anything else at its grade, on a big circuit in central QLD. That single feature defines how the track rides: a horse well back turning in still has room to win, and a leader who has gone too hard is badly exposed.
