Werribee is an unusual shape — closer to a triangle than an oval, with tight, well-banked turns and a short run home — set in the river valley south-west of Melbourne on land that was once the Chirnside estate. The course is wide and well grassed, and the crowd sits close enough to the rail to hear the field go past. The Werribee Cup in January is its feature.
