Muswellbrook is one of the oldest continuously running clubs in NSW, in the upper Hunter, and it draws better stables than its grade would suggest — the breeding country around it is the reason. The circuit is an unusual shape rather than a plain oval, and the draw at one of the sprint starts matters more than it does at most tracks because of where that start sits on the circle.
