Julia Creek races at McIntyre Park on the edge of town, deep inland from Townsville on the Flinders Highway, and has done since the nineteen-twenties. For a place this remote the meetings carry real prize money — horses come in from across the north-west for them — and the club's calendar runs to novelties the bush does better than anywhere else.

We hold 27 races from the course, where fields have averaged 7.6 runners and 1100 metres is the most frequently programmed trip. T.M.Parry has 14 wins from 98 runners at the track.
