Devonport races at Spreyton on Tasmania's north coast, and its surface is the thing that sets it apart: this was the first Tapeta track laid in Australia, and it remains the only all-weather thoroughbred surface in TAS. That is not a cosmetic difference — an all-weather course races through conditions that would put a grass meeting in doubt, so the calendar here holds up when others do not.
