About this course

Turf · 2000m circumference · 250m straight · anticlockwise

Coleraine, in Victoria's western district, is a big sandy-soil circuit that drains well and genuinely undulates — low through the back, rising to the turn, then a steady gentle climb all the way up a short home straight. The club runs the Great Western Steeplechase, the oldest continuously run jumps race in the country, first held in the eighteen-fifties.

We hold 22 races from the course, with fields averaging 9.3 runners and 3300 metres the most frequently run distance. S.W.Wilde has 6 wins from 13 runners at the track.
