Casterton, in the state's far south-west, is the only track in the country with a genuine live hedge steeplechase course — real hedgerow rather than the usual portable fences — and the club claims to be the oldest sporting body in its district. The turns on the flat circuit are well cambered, and a chute feeds the shorter and mile starts.
