Broome, in the Kimberley on Western Australia's far north coast, races on a flat symmetrical circuit with a long back straight and wide, sweeping turns — a course built for genuine galloping rather than tactics. The setting on Cable Beach is often called the most picturesque in the country, and cool sea breezes make the meetings tolerable in a climate that is otherwise hot and humid through much of the year.
