Bendigo has raced on the central Victorian goldfields since the eighteen-fifties, which makes it one of the oldest clubs still going in the state, and the course was rebuilt at the end of the nineteen-nineties to the roomy shape it has now. Two chutes feed the sprint and mile starts, and the long run home means a horse does not have to be on the pace to win.
